about Lagouira

Lagouira is a village on the Atlantic coast, located at the extreme south of the Sahara, bordering with Mauritania. In 1912 by the Madrid Convention, Spain and France established borders between the French possessions in Mauritania and the Spanish possessions in Morocco.
In 1924 Lagouira was incorporated into the Spanish colony of Oued ed-Dahab.
In 1979, Mauritania withdrew from the Saharan military conflict by ceding the region to Morocco. Lagouira has one of the most beautiful beaches on the Atlantic Coast.
